Finding Her Voice and Her Future: Zoiey’s Journey at Grand Canyon Private Academy 

For Grand Canyon Private Academy senior Zoiey, finding the right school meant finding an environment where she could receive the support, attention, and encouragement she needed to thrive. 

Before enrolling at Grand Canyon Private Academy, Zoiey’s family felt that the class sizes and curriculum at her previous public school were not meeting her educational needs. She was beginning to fall behind and was missing important skills. 

Her family knew it was time for a change. 

“Enrolling her in Grand Canyon Private Academy was the best choice for her,” Zoiey’s mother, Stephannie, shared. “She now has learned a bunch of skills she didn’t have before, and the teachers are very helpful and supportive of her education. They give her the attention that she needs.” 

Finding Support and a Love for Learning 

Since joining Grand Canyon Private Academy, Zoiey’s school experience has changed significantly. 

She describes her experience as “amazing,” especially because of the individual support she receives from her teachers and the curriculum she gets to explore. 

“I enjoy the special attention from the teachers, and learning has been fun,” Zoiey said. 

That supportive environment has helped her grow not only academically, but also in confidence. 

Her advice to future Grand Canyon Private Academy students is simple: 

“Don’t stress with anything. We have amazing teachers that are there to help and want you to succeed!” 

Building Confidence Beyond the Classroom 

Zoiey has also been able to take skills learned at Grand Canyon Private Academy and use them outside of school through her involvement with the Miss Arizona Scholarship Program. 

Her journey with the organization began long before she was old enough to compete. Zoiey spent 10 years participating as a princess in the program before eventually becoming a contestant herself. 

Now in her third year of competition, she has already earned several scholarships toward college and hopes to one day earn the title of Miss Arizona and eventually compete for Miss America. 

For Zoiey, the program is about much more than competition. 

“I enjoy volunteering and serving my community, which is what the Miss Arizona Organization stands for,” she shared. 

Attending an online school has also helped her prepare for an important part of the scholarship program: communicating confidently with others. 

Because Grand Canyon Private Academy students regularly interact on camera and complete presentations, Zoiey has had many opportunities to practice speaking in front of others. 

“The presentations I have had to give have helped me with my public speaking skills,” Zoiey said. “There were a lot of interview skills that I have learned that way and from my English classes with Mrs. Wendt.” 

Those everyday classroom experiences have helped her build skills she can carry into interviews, competitions, college, and her future career. 

Turning Her Story Into a Purpose 

Zoiey’s commitment to serving others is also deeply personal. 

She is a childhood cancer survivor. 

Today, she uses her experiences to advocate for children battling cancer and to raise awareness whenever she has the opportunity. 

Her mother describes Zoiey as someone who is always willing to help wherever she is needed and passionate about spreading the word about childhood cancer awareness. 

That passion has also shaped what Zoiey hopes to do after graduation. 

Her goal is to attend Arizona Western College and earn a nursing degree, with hopes of eventually becoming an oncology nurse working with children with cancer. 

For Zoiey, it is a chance to take what she has experienced and use it to make a difference in the lives of other children and families. 

Looking Toward the Future 

As Zoiey prepares to complete her senior year at Grand Canyon Private Academy, she has already built a story filled with perseverance, service, growth, and purpose. 

From strengthening her academic skills and discovering a more supportive learning environment to developing the confidence to speak publicly and advocate for a cause close to her heart, Zoiey continues to work toward a future centered around helping others. 

Whether she is attending class, serving her community, competing for scholarships, advocating for childhood cancer awareness, or pursuing her dream of becoming an oncology nurse, Zoiey is using her experiences to shape what comes next. 

And with college, nursing, and perhaps even the Miss Arizona crown in her future, Zoiey is only getting started.
